This is a picture of the palace.
The Dome in the back of the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fior. There is a campanile next to the cathedral that you can walk up. The kids made it all the way to the top. These pictures were taken along the way.
Matt in front of a statue of Filippo Brunelleschi. He designed the Dome. Matt was fascinated with the Dome and Brunelleschi. He told Courtney and me a bunch of interesting facts on our way up. Patrick and Matt had read a book about the Dome before we left on the trip.
The whole family outside the Cathedral. A very nice woman tried very hard to get a picture of the six of us.
Matt doing some homework in the hotel lobby. We also played a lot of cards in the lobby.
Patrick's morning coffee.
Outside the Cathedral.
Riding the carousel. One time they came around and they were both standing on the horses, I about had a heart attack. They thought they were being so funny.
View of the city.
Matt fell asleep right before we were going to leave to the train station. The walk to the train with luggage and sleepy kid was pretty treacherous.
Picking out the gelato flavor...the hardest decision you'll make each day.
