Last weekend we went to the Iowa State Fair! As soon as we could peel ourselves away from watching the Olympics we got in the car and headed on over to the eastside of Des Moines to enjoy a funfilled day at the fair. It was hot, hot, hot (of course!). We left Matt at home with Mom, Courtney was really excited to have us all to herself. We got there around 10 and stayed until 7 so we really got our fill!

1. The Buttered Shawn Johnson Statue! Patrick stood in line with Courtney to see the statue thinking she would really enjoy it. The conversation went like this:
Patrick: "Do you know who that is?"
Courtney: an unenthusiastic "nut-uh."
Patrick: "Well, let's see, she's wearing a leotard and has a ponytail in her hair."
Courtney: Very confused look on her face, "is it me, Dad?"
Sidenote: In case you are all interested... Courtney no longer considers Shawn "her girl". When she saw Nastia's hot pink leotard and ponytail in the All-Around competition she decided that Nastia is her favorite (how can you blame that reasoning!?)
